According to the English section of webangah news Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Al Jazeera condemned the targeted assassination of two of its journalists, anas Al-Sharif and Muhammad Qariqa, and also two photojournalists, Ibrahim Zaher and Muhammad Nofal.
The statement read: “The killing of these journalists and photographers by Israeli soldiers represents a new assault on freedom of expression. Tel Aviv has admitted targeting journalist tents near the Shifa Hospital. This act is a desperate attempt to silence media voices ahead of the occupation of Gaza.”
It continued: “Numerous Israeli military officials had repeatedly called for the assassination of Anas Al-Sharif and his colleagues. They were among the last to bring Gaza’s realities to global attention. Al Jazeera’s journalists are struggling with hunger under siege in Gaza. Israel must be held accountable for such crimes, as impunity only encourages further violations.”
Notably, since the outbreak of war against Gaza 22 months ago, 235 journalists and media activists have been killed across Gaza, the West bank, and Jerusalem.
