The English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency via TASS, reported that CNN, citing White House sources, confirmed that the summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump will be held at the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson Air Force installation in Alaska.
CNN stated that Washington faced a critically important challenge in selecting a location for this crucial meeting. The peak tourist season means practically no public venues are available to host such an event. After considering options in Juneau, Anchorage, and Fairbanks, organizers concluded that only Anchorage possessed the necessary infrastructure.
Sources added that while the White House initially hoped to avoid holding the summit on a US military base,Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson ultimately emerged as the sole site meeting all requirements.
Trump announced on August 8th that he would meet Putin on August 15th in Alaska. Shortly after, Yuri Ushakov, advisor to the Russian president, confirmed that this meeting would focus on consultations aimed at reaching a lasting peace agreement regarding the war in Ukraine.
