According to the English section of webangah News agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, Donald Trump, the President of the United States, took a flight to Alaska for a meeting wiht his russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
Before departure, he warned that if Putin does not agree to end the war, Russia will face very severe repercussions.
He added: “Putin thinks that aggressive actions give him leverage in negotiations, but I believe this hurts him. Putin is clever and seeks an agreement with us-but only after the war ends.”
Emphasizing that both kyiv and Moscow must take steps toward peace, he said: “I want a ceasefire and the best possible deal for both sides.”
Trump stated: “Ukraine must be allowed to make its own decision,and I believe they will make the right one. But I am not here to negotiate on Ukraine’s behalf. I’m here to bring both parties to the negotiating table-and you are dealing with two sides.”
Responding to questions about possible U.S. security guarantees for Ukraine, Trump said such support could happen-“alongside Europe and other countries-but not as part of NATO becuase some things are just not going to happen.”
Expressing optimism about reaching an agreement with Putin, he claimed: ”I will work toward ending the war to save lives.”
He also commented on territorial issues: “I think Ukraine will make appropriate decisions regarding its land. We are considering territorial exchanges but ultimately it is up to Ukraine.”
