According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared in his latest statement that Ukraine requires real peace rather than a temporary cessation of Russian attacks.
He added that he emphasized to former U.S. President Donald Trump the necessity of increasing pressure on Russia and securing strong, long-term security guarantees.
Zelensky also stressed that Europe and the United States must provide security guarantees, stating that territorial issues cannot be resolved without Ukraine’s involvement.
The Ukrainian president underlined to Trump the importance of intensifying sanctions on Russia if efforts to reach a just end to the war falter.
Earlier, the Associated Press quoted Zelensky saying he had an extensive conversation with Trump and planned to meet with him in Washington on August 17. He expressed gratitude for Trump’s invitation and said they would discuss all details related to ending the killing and war.
Zelensky highlighted Europe’s crucial role in these discussions, referencing led by European leaders who were absent from Friday’s summit attended by himself.
the president supported Trump’s proposal for a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia, noting key issues can be addressed at leadership level within such a format.
Following nearly three hours of talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump described their meeting as constructive and reported agreement on many points between both sides.
