According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera via Mehr News Agency, Ukrainian President volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with Fox News on Monday, ahead of his meeting with the U.S. president at the White House, that ceding Ukrainian territory to Russia is impossible.
This follows Zelensky’s statement on sunday that Kyiv is open to negotiating territorial changes as part of a peace agreement to end hostilities with Russia. However, Kyiv will not relinquish any territory not occupied by Moscow’s forces.
In a press conference in Brussels alongside European Commission President ursula von der Leyen before his flight to Washington for talks with U.S. President Donald Trump, Zelensky told reporters: “We need real negotiations, meaning they should start from where the current front line is-the contact line is the best point for discussion. Since territorial issues are very important, they must be addressed only by Ukraine and Russia at a trilateral meeting involving Ukraine, the United States, and Russia. So far, Russia has shown no readiness to attend such a trilateral summit. if Moscow refuses, new sanctions should be imposed.” He added emphatically that “Ukraine’s constitution makes ceding or exchanging territory impossible.”
