According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, a Syrian source told Al Jazeera that Asaad al-Shibani, Foreign Minister of the Julani regime, will meet with Ran Dermer, Israel’s Minister of Strategic Affairs, in Paris. The meeting will also be attended by Tom Barak, the U.S. special envoy for Syria.

Israel’s Channel 12 reported that Dermer and al-Shibani will discuss security coordination along their shared borders in Barak’s presence.
Since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government, Abu Muhammad al-Julani’s regime has signaled significant shifts in its political discourse, expressing readiness for an open policy and normalization with Israel.
During the first half of 2025, regional and European mediators initiated efforts to establish communication channels between Damascus and Tel Aviv. Existing reports indicated that Syria’s new government is prepared not only to sign a peace agreement with Israel but also to recognize Israeli sovereignty over occupied Golan Heights-conditional on economic guarantees such as easing or lifting Western sanctions.
