When asked whether land swaps, particularly regarding Donbas, were discussed during the negotiations yesterday among trump, Zelensky, and EU officials at the White House-and what the atmosphere was like-Trump responded: “They understand. Everyone can pretend to be fine or something like that. But you know Ukraine will regain its life. Ukrainians will no longer witness their compatriots being killed.of course, they are supposed to also gain territory in this matter; but let’s acknowledge this has been a war and Russia is a powerful military country. Like it or not, Moscow is a strong nation-much larger than many others.”
Trump added: ”Of course, this war should not have started.You cannot defeat a country many times bigger than you. If it weren’t for the military equipment we sent-and they paid us considerable sums-they also had good Patriot missiles available to them. So we provided them with those systems as well. The Ukrainian soldiers were very brave because they fought against a force far stronger and much bigger than theirs. You’ve seen the map and know that much of Ukraine’s territory has been captured. They talk about Donbas; but as you know, 79 percent of Donbas belongs to Russia and is under their control. they understand what that means.”
