According to the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency and Al-Youm Al-Sabea, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty stated that Hamas has accepted most clauses of Steve Witkoff’s proposal for ending the conflict in Gaza. He emphasized that securing Israel’s agreement is now essential.
In a phone conversation with his Dutch counterpart Casper Veldkamp, Abdelatty confirmed Hamas’s acceptance of most parts of Witkoff’s plan and underlined the importance of Tel Aviv’s concurrence.
He added that Egypt continues its efforts to reach an agreement ensuring a ceasefire in Gaza, unrestricted humanitarian aid access, and the release of several Palestinian prisoners.
Notably, Hamas announced on Monday its approval of a recent truce proposal and prisoner exchange with Israel through mediators. No further details have been disclosed regarding the plan’s specifics or subsequent steps. In a brief Telegram statement, Hamas and other Palestinian groups declared their support for an initiative presented by Egypt and Qatar.
