According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia al-Youm, US President Donald Trump said, “We are preparing to hold a meeting between Vladimir Putin, president of Russia, and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, president of Ukraine.”
Trump added, “I want to see what outcome results from the meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy.”
The White House had previously stated that the timing of trilateral talks on Ukraine depends on the results of the Putin-Zelenskyy meeting.
Politico earlier reported that a senior official in Trump’s administration and a close source confirmed plans by the White House to organize a trilateral summit involving Putin, Trump, and Zelenskyy in Budapest, Hungary.
it is notable that Vladimir Putin initially proposed holding this potential summit in Moscow, but Ukraine opposed the idea.
Meanwhile, Switzerland’s foreign minister told CNN that his country welcomes hosting peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
France has also called for holding such talks in Switzerland.
