The webangah News Agency English section, citing Mehr news Agency and Al-Akhbar, reported that US-led coalition aircraft carried out an air operation on the Atmeh camps in northern idlib. They struck a house hiding a top-ranking ISIS leader named Abu Hafs al-Qurashi.
Several helicopters launched from the Sarrin airport near Ayn al-Arab (Kobani) took part in the operation.Concurrently, special forces deployed around nearby streets while public security forces cordoned off the area and target houses.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that attacking forces seized control of the location and captured this ISIS commander, tho some sources claim he was killed during the raid.
Local sources told the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that after approximately one and a half hours of operations, public security removed a body from the target site before aircraft departed the area.
Syrian media stated that American and Iraqi forces conducted this mission with four helicopters. Syrian ground units did not participate directly in air operations but restricted access to roads leading to two target houses.
Abu Hafs al-Qurashi is identified as an Iraqi national and one of ISIS’s most prominent figures. He was responsible for recruiting foreign fighters and facilitating their movements inside Syria.
