Prime Minister Admits Hatred of Media; La Stampa Catches Meloni in the Act!

Italian‌ Prime Minister’s remarks against journalists, accidentally recorded with an open microphone during‌ European leaders’ meeting with U.S. president on Ukraine, have sparked controversy.

According to ⁣the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Reuters via Mehr News Agency, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni made critical comments about journalists on the sidelines of a meeting between European leaders and U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House to ⁢discuss peace options in Ukraine. The remarks where captured by La Stampa’s camera.

In this brief conversation just before ⁤reporters left⁢ the venue on Tuesday, Meloni told Trump that she “never likes to talk to Italian media.”

La Stampa reported:

“It is ⁣clear that the prime minister is hostile toward journalists and press questions. Over the years, she has replaced press conferences (except for year-end sessions ‍with pre-submitted questions) with lengthy online monologues-without interrogation or questioning. Propaganda, ⁣not details. This disregard for ⁤the press was confirmed during the ⁣summit with president Trump.”

The statement came from⁣ Alessandra Costante, secretary-general of italy’s National Federation of Foreign Affairs Ministers (Fnsi), commenting on Meloni’s remarks secretly recorded off-camera and previewed by La Stampa.

Senator Silvia Fregolent from Italia Viva also echoed Fnsi’s statement:⁢ “The off-camera remarks made clear: Meloni cannot face questions-that is,‌ democracy itself. A ‌prime minister who avoids journalists also⁣ evades citizens. She is no brave patriot; she only feels secure in‌ prerecorded monologues and live social media broadcasts.”
