According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, Caspar veldkamp, the Dutch Foreign Minister, announced on Wednesday that “we condemn Israel’s decision to proceed with the illegal E1 settlement plan. This settlement project divides the occupied West Bank into two parts and constitutes a violation of international law.”
The Dutch foreign minister added, “This settlement plan makes the establishment of a Palestinian state nearly impossible. We urge israel not to take any action that undermines the so-called two-state solution.”
simultaneously occurring, just hours earlier, the israeli cabinet officially and definitively approved the implementation of construction in the area known as E1 in East Jerusalem-a plan repeatedly halted as the 1990s due to international opposition.
According to Peace Now movement, which monitors settlement activities, this approval came at an unprecedented speed. The plan includes building more than 3,401 new housing units as well as establishing a new settlement called “Ish Ahel,” featuring 342 housing units alongside public buildings.
