according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al-Mayadeen via Mehr News Agency, British Foreign secretary David Lammy stated on Wednesday: “We condemn Israel’s approval of the E1 settlement plan that divides Palestine into two separate areas.”
The British minister added, “If implemented, this Israeli settlement plan would constitute a blatant breach of international law.”
Earlier today, Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp similarly condemned Israel’s decision to proceed with the illegal E1 settlement project. He said, “This plan splits the occupied West Bank into two parts and violates international law. It makes establishing a Palestinian state virtually impossible. We urge Israel not to take any actions that undermine the so-called two-state solution.”
the Israeli cabinet officially and finally approved implementing the settlement scheme in East Jerusalem’s E1 area just hours ago. This proposal has been repeatedly halted as the 1990s due to international opposition.
According to Peace Now movement-which monitors settler activities-the approval came at unprecedented speed and includes building more than 3,401 new housing units along with establishing a new settlement called “Ishahhel,” featuring 342 housing units and also public buildings.
