French Foreign Ministry Summons U.S. Ambassador Amid Accusations Over Antisemitism

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Agence France-Presse,‌ the French Foreign‍ Ministry summoned the U.S. ambassador‌ following American ⁢accusations that‌ France has failed to‌ adequately combat antisemitism.

The French Foreign Ministry stated, “We have⁤ reviewed the claims made by the U.S. ambassador expressing concerns about rising antisemitic acts in France. These accusations are unacceptable and fall below the level of trust expected between allies.”

earlier,⁢ Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, claimed that French president Emmanuel Macron’s move ‌to recognize⁢ the State⁢ of Palestine had contributed to an increase in antisemitism within⁣ France.

In response, ⁢Benjamin Haddad, French minister-counselor⁣ for European affairs, condemned Netanyahu’s remarks as “shameful and based on a false premise,” rejecting‌ any⁣ connection between recognizing Palestine and rising‌ antisemitic incidents.

Last week Haddad responded directly to Netanyahu’s allegations that Macron was fueling antisemitism by affirming that “France does not need ⁣lessons in combating ⁣antisemitism.”

Following global efforts to recognize palestine as a state, Netanyahu sent⁤ a ‌letter to⁣ Macron accusing him of “fanning the ⁢flames” of antisemitism.

In ⁤his letter,Netanyahu warned that Macron’s public criticism ‌of Israel and recognition of⁤ Palestine‍ coincided with a worrying surge in ⁤antisemitic incidents across⁤ France.

The Israeli prime minister also said these statements strengthen Hamas’s position and increase hatred towards jews throughout europe.

Late last month, ‌Macron announced that france would officially recognize Palestine during the⁤ United ‍Nations assembly in September-a decision that promptly drew strong ⁢reactions from Israel.
