According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Qatar’s Al Jazeera network, the Jerusalem Post reported that the Brazilian goverment has opposed the appointment of Israel’s new ambassador to Brasília.
At the same time, Brasília has withdrawn its request to appoint a new ambassador to the occupied territories.
The Israeli daily Maariv also wrote that relations between Brazil and Israel have entered a new crisis phase.Brazil’s rejection of Tel Aviv’s proposed ambassador signals increasingly strained ties between the two sides.
This advancement comes just days after Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded on August 17 to Israel’s recent expansion plans in the occupied Palestinian territories, describing them as a threat to the indigenous population.
In its statement, Brazil’s Foreign Ministry condemned Israel’s E1 settlement plan, calling it a geopolitical move that threatens the existence of a Palestinian state.
Israel Defense Forces Radio also reported that Brazil refused to accept credentials from Israel’s new envoy, placing bilateral relations at their lowest point.
Channel 14 in Tel Aviv further announced that Israel intends to downgrade its diplomatic relations with Brazil.
