According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and TASS, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó reacted to the arrest of a Ukrainian national in Italy suspected of involvement in the explosion of the Nord Stream gas pipelines in autumn 2022. He stated that this sabotage displays all the characteristics of state terrorism.
Szijjártó emphasized: “Based on available information, it appears highly likely that this case involves state terrorism. When a terrorist act is carried out using state resources and with government support, it is considered state terrorism. This case resembles such an act.”
Last week, 49-year-old Ukrainian citizen Sergei Kuznetsov was arrested in Italy under an international warrant issued by Germany. He is accused of complicity in organizing attacks on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines in September 2022.The German prosecutor’s office alleges he was part of a group who planted explosives near Bornholm on these pipelines and identifies him as one of the coordinators behind the attack. Some reports indicate Kuznetsov collaborated with Ukrainian intelligence until 2015.
On September 26, 2022, three underwater sections of Nord stream and Nord Stream 2 suffered severe damage; notably, Nord Stream 2 had not yet become operational at that time. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has affirmed Moscow’s conviction that the sabotage was carried out with U.S.support. the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has opened an investigation into international terrorism related to this incident.
