According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and TASS, Turkey’s Vice President Fuat Oktay announced the possibility of hosting a bilateral meeting between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky, presidents of Russia and Ukraine respectively.
Oktay referred to Turkish President recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict, stating that Zelensky and Putin will likely meet in Istanbul. “Why not?” he said.
He added, “Erdoğan is a leader trusted by both sides. Concrete outcomes related to the Black Sea grain initiative and prisoner exchanges were achieved here. Turkey remains an option for resolving the war in Ukraine.”
Erdoğan has repeatedly expressed his readiness to facilitate peace talks regarding Ukraine and organize potential negotiations between Russian and Ukrainian leaders. Turkey previously hosted three rounds of talks between the two countries.
