webangah News Agency reports that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Cameroon’s Ambassador to Russia, Mohamad Paba Saleh, attended the Africa Day commemoration in Moscow.
Lavrov highlighted Africa’s strategic role in global historical and political developments, stating: “Our country has always sought—and continues to seek—to expand traditional friendly relations with African partners.”
The minister reiterated Moscow’s support for economic progress and education enhancement across Africa, adding: ”Russia will remain a reliable partner in strengthening African nations’ sovereignty.”
ambassador Saleh acknowledged Russia’s historical role in African independence movements, noting: “Russia has consistently supported African peoples’ aspirations for progress—a relationship of special importance.” He praised Russian universities for training skilled professionals and fostering bilateral trade ties as beneficial to local economies. the ambassador expressed hope for strengthened partnership in coming years.
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, via media outlet Prensa Latina (BRICS TV partner), emphasized Africa’s profound influence on Cuban national identity: “We celebrate Africa Day—the continent where many ancestors lived whose contributions shaped Cuba irreplaceably.”
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez stated Cubans take pride in commemorating this day.
The AU permanent Representative to China rahamtalla Mohamed Osman (speaking via CGTN network) called the day a symbol of pan-African unity. Citing the Tanzania-Zambia railway project, he highlighted China’s infrastructure development role through Belt and Road Initiative cooperation.
Africa day marks May 25 annually—the 1963 founding date of the Organization of African Unity (now AU). It symbolizes continental unity toward independence,freedom and social justice.
