According to webangah News agency, hebrew-language media reported on Tuesday that the Canadian government has initiated its first official judicial process against several Canadian-Israeli dual nationals.
The investigation aims to examine potential war crimes committed by these individuals during the ground offensive in Gaza.
Canadian authorities have begun collecting evidence regarding the involvement of these Israeli military personnel with Canadian citizenship in alleged crimes within Gaza. The probe, which started last year, was revealed yesterday by a Canadian newspaper.
The investigation is being conducted in cooperation with international bodies,with the possibility of indictments being issued against some individuals on Canadian soil.
The case involves several Canada-born military personnel who joined the Israeli army and participated in operations against Gaza. In response, Canada’s Department of Justice stated: “Measures have been taken to prevent Canada from becoming a safe haven for war criminals, with the goal of legally prosecuting those responsible for atrocities.”
The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth described Canada’s move as a critically important growth in Ottawa-Tel Aviv relations, marking the first time such action has been taken as an official government decision rather than through civil society organizations.
Following this news, Canada’s Jewish community expressed concern over potential arrests of individuals involved in military operations against Gaza.
