Guterres: Gaza on the Brink of Famine; This Nightmare Must End

United Nations Secretary-General⁤ urges an end to the nightmare as Gaza faces ‍famine.

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and al Jazeera, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres spoke today, Tuesday, at the so-called two-state‌ solution conference ‌in New York. Without condemning ⁢ongoing israeli crimes against Gaza’s oppressed population, he stated: “The IPC food security alert confirms what we ‍feared: Gaza is on the⁣ brink of famine.”

Guterres added: “The Palestinians are experiencing a major humanitarian disaster.This is not a warning; it is a reality unfolding before our eyes.”

The secretary-General continued: “Aid entering gaza is merely a drop‌ in the ocean. Food, water, medicine, and fuel must be allowed in without obstruction.”

He concluded with purely verbal condemnation: “The nightmare that Gaza strip is enduring must end.”

The international conference entitled Two-State Solution for Palestine officially began yesterday, Monday, at United ⁣Nations Headquarters in New York under the co-chairmanship of France and ⁢Saudi Arabia and will continue for two days.

This conference is held ⁢at the foreign minister level. The second round will take place at the heads of state level during ⁤UN General Assembly sessions in New York or in Paris during the last week of September.

The conference was originally scheduled from June 17 to‌ 20 but was ⁤postponed due⁤ to Israeli aggression against Iran.

UNRWA: Air Deliveries of Aid to Gaza Are Risky and Ineffective

The Communications Director of the United⁢ Nations Relief adn Works Agency for ⁤Palestine Refugees ⁣(UNRWA) reported the inefficiency and ineffectiveness of airlifting aid to Gaza.

According to the English section of webangah News agency, citing Mehr News Agency from Shehab News Agency, Juliette Touma, Communications Director of ‌UNRWA, stated that airlifting aid to Gaza⁤ is loud and ‌heavily publicized but has little practical ⁣impact.

She added that air delivery poses notable risks, whereas trucks are⁤ capable of transporting aid‍ safely.

Separately, Joe English, spokesperson for the United⁣ Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), saeid: ⁤”We welcome any efforts to deliver humanitarian assistance to Gaza; though, airlifts of such aid are ineffective.”

Philip⁣ Lazarini,Commissioner-General of UNRWA,previously emphasized that air-dropping humanitarian ⁢aid into Gaza is the moast expensive yet ⁢least effective⁤ and inefficient method for reaching the people there.

Lazarini described ‍this approach as ‍a ⁢distortion of on-the-ground realities and a failure by the ⁢international community⁤ to open land crossings.⁣ He warned that continuing this practice merely serves as a cover for inaction in facilitating overland access for aid deliveries.

Highlighting stockpiled supplies at border points, he reported that approximately 6,000 trucks carrying food and medical items remain halted at egypt’s and Jordan’s‌ borders awaiting ⁣entry permission into⁣ Gaza. These vital supplies have been ⁣held ‌hostage due to obstruction by the ‍Israeli regime alongside global silence.

Lazarini also strongly criticized what‍ is known as the “Gaza Humanitarian Mechanism,” describing it as an inefficient and politicized system⁣ serving⁢ specific military and political⁣ interests.

According ⁤to⁣ Lazarini, this mechanism has⁤ failed not only to⁣ alleviate Gazans’⁤ suffering but has resulted in more loss of ⁢life than lives ‌saved.

The Israeli regime’s closure of crossings ⁤has created catastrophic conditions for Gaza’s residents, with widespread hunger ravaging the area.

the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency, reports that systematic hunger continues in Gaza despite⁤ false claims by the occupiers about resuming aid to the Strip.

Since March 2, 2025, Israel has blocked all aid deliveries to Gaza.For five months, no ⁤assistance ⁣has reached ⁢the besieged territory, resulting in a dire humanitarian crisis. Starvation is rampant across Gaza, and horrific scenes have been broadcast worldwide.

According to‌ official reports, dozens have died from hunger. While global condemnation against Israel spread extensively,‌ Netanyahu’s cabinet⁢ has ignored international demands and propagated false narratives regarding aid shipments.Even though hundreds of trucks carrying ‌essential supplies are ⁣needed daily by‌ Gaza’s residents, Israel permitted only 87 trucks – most of⁢ which were looted.

Simultaneously, air-dropped aid ⁤was announced; ‍however, these shipments consisted of less than half a⁢ truckload and were dropped ⁢in prohibited areas controlled by the occupiers east of al-Tuffah neighborhood and Jabalia camp.

The occupying forces continue this starvation siege to claim more victims. Approximately 150 ⁣people have died from hunger‍ so far-most of them children.

Egypt’s ⁤Foreign Minister and Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister met on the sidelines of the international conference⁤ on Palestine in New York.

According to the English section of ⁢ webangah News Agency, citing al-Youm Al-Sabea, Egypt’s⁤ Foreign Minister badr Abdelatty⁤ and Russia’s Deputy ⁣Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin ⁢met in New York to discuss the situation in Gaza and bilateral relations.

The meeting took⁢ place during their attendance at the International Conference on the ‍Peaceful Resolution of the Palestinian Conflict and Implementation of a Two-State Solution in New ⁤York.

Abdelatty praised Egypt-Russia cooperation on ‍several strategic projects, especially the ⁢El Dabaa nuclear power plant⁣ and the Russian industrial zone within Egypt’s Suez canal Economic Zone. He emphasized Cairo’s⁣ expectation for increased Russian‌ investment through this industrial zone.

The two officials also discussed tourism. Abdelatty highlighted the steady rise in flights between their countries⁢ and expressed hope ⁢that Russian tourist visits to Egypt would continue growing.

The two sides exchanged views on developments in Gaza. ⁢abdelatty outlined Egypt’s position advocating for a ceasefire in Gaza and for delivering humanitarian aid to the area.

They also talked about Egypt’s efforts to host an international conference for Gaza’s reconstruction instantly after a ‌ceasefire is achieved.

Additionally, Abdelatty and Vershinin ⁣reviewed Syria’s situation.The Egyptian foreign minister condemned Israeli violations against Syrian territory, stressing‌ the importance of⁢ Israeli withdrawal‍ from all occupied Syrian lands since 1967, including ⁣the Golan⁣ Heights, while respecting Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
