According to the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency via Al Jazeera Qatar, Mohammad bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, spoke about the Gaza crisis and the so-called two-state solution conference co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia underway in New York. He said that although the conference offers a glimmer of hope, the region remains at a very sensitive moment amid a brutal war launched by Israel against the people of Gaza.
He strongly criticized global double standards, asserting: “We categorically reject double standards, and no one has the right to discriminate among human beings.”
Bin Abdulrahman also condemned using food as leverage in conflicts.He emphasized that Qatar vehemently opposes weaponizing food as pressure or as a tool in wars.
Questioning what kind of peace can be envisioned amid an expanding humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza marked by widespread hunger, humiliation, and killing, he declared: ”The scenes we have witnessed in Gaza are a shameful stain on humanity’s forehead. We saw civilians starved under siege who were martyred while waiting for even one piece of bread.”
The Qatari Prime Minister highlighted his country’s mediation role toward ceasefire agreements aimed at ending hostilities in Gaza. He noted joint mediation efforts with Egypt and the United States have facilitated significant humanitarian aid deliveries into Gaza and secured freedom for hundreds of detainees.
Indirectly referencing Israeli officials who frequently challenge Qatar’s mediator role, he acknowledged ongoing attempts to undermine mediating nations’ credibility persist despite obstacles.
He added that efforts continue toward securing an immediate ceasefire to end the crisis.The Qatari government has never faltered in its response to this dire situation.
Condemning Israeli regime crimes firmly, he stated: ”We strongly denounce policies involving blockade measures, forced displacement, repeated attacks on hospitals, refugee shelters, and vital infrastructure across Gaza.”
bin Abdulrahman warned this devastating war severely damages international law’s credibility along with fundamental human values while pushing the region toward explosion.
He stressed that policies pursued by global powers only exacerbate suffering-fueling injustice perceptions alongside scenes of slaughter and destruction.
The Prime Minister underscored that this war tragedy proves there is no choice but a just and comprehensive solution regarding Palestine’s issue.
He concluded by stating: “Delivering justice for the Palestinian people has been postponed for nearly 80 years.”
The international conference on what is called *the two-state solution* concerning Palestine officially opened yesterday Monday at United Nations headquarters in New York under joint presidency by France and Saudi Arabia. It will continue over two days.
This ministerial-level meeting will be followed by a leaders’ summit either during UN General Assembly sessions or later in Paris during late September week sessions.
The conference was initially scheduled from June 17-20 but was postponed due to Israeli aggression against iran.
