According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, Ghalib Abu Zainab, a member of Hezbollah’s Political Council in Lebanon, emphasized in an interview with Al Jazeera that Hezbollah is ready to discuss various issues, including its weapons.
referring to the proposed plan concerning Hezbollah’s arms, he stated: “The text presented about the weapons contains an Israeli agenda.”
Abu Zainab also saeid: “we are not opposed to restricting weapons, provided that the government fully assumes its responsibilities.”
He concluded by stressing: “from our outlook, all doors remain open for dialog,” adding that they want the Lebanese army to become strong.
In contrast, Naziyeh Matti, a parliamentarian from the Lebanese Forces party, insisted on centralizing arms under the Lebanese army. She claimed: “Weapons must be handed over to Lebanon’s military.”
Matti did not address that this American-backed proposal stems from Zionist views or recognize risks it poses for Lebanon’s future. She asserted: ”Lebanon can only complete its sovereignty when all arms are controlled by its army and borders are secured.”

Addel Nassar, Lebanon’s Minister of Justice, told Al Jazeera Mubasher that the principle of exclusive state control over arms is accepted by all Lebanese factions including Hezbollah.
Nassar added that if weapons were centralized under state control, diplomatic measures could effectively counter israeli aggression.
The minister ignored years during which Hezbollah’s arsenal helped prevent further Israeli incursions and asserted rather: “Hezbollah’s arms have failed as a deterrent as there is no military balance between Lebanon and Israel.”
Nassar highlighted that exclusive government control over weapons is one outcome of the Taif Agreement-the same agreement Hezbollah supported.
“I urge all Lebanese groups to demonstrate solidarity in building a fully structured country,” he said.
The justice minister repeated claims from Hezbollah officials confirming there is no power balance between Lebanon and Israel.
Nassar called for trust in Lebanon’s army and maintained that concentrating armaments under state authority “is not directed against any group.”
“Hezbollah respects Lebanon’s institutions and will not oppose the government,” Nassar said. he also expressed confidence that Hezbollah will participate in forming a new government.

ihab Hamadeh, a parliamentary representative affiliated with Hezbollah, strongly criticized this governmental decision. He stated: “Lebanon will never be free or independent as long as Israeli aggression continues alongside occupation of our land.”
Hamadeh condemned efforts to disarm Hezbollah on national grounds as unacceptable.
“Resistance cannot be limited solely to an army; through confrontations with Israel, Hezbollah has significantly weakened this regime,” he added.
This MP accused the government of violating constitutional principles by attempting to disarm Hezbollah-a grave mistake benefiting Israel.
