Reuters, quoting unnamed sources, reported that Narendra Modi will travel to China on August 31.

The sources did not provide further details about the trip.

The US-China trade war under former President Trump has pushed India toward warmer ties with China.strengthening relations with Beijing expands India’s diplomatic reach, although experts say it does not signal a fundamental shift in⁤ the two⁣ countries’ opposing positions on key issues.

The Washington Post, citing analysts, noted that US tariffs have compelled India to rebuild ties with ⁢its longtime rival China-a⁢ neighbor with whom Delhi shares a disputed Himalayan border.

Pankaj Saran, India’s former deputy national security advisor, stated: “These relations give us more room for strategic maneuvering and flexibility in dealing with the US government rather than leading us into a deadlock. We seek peace ‍in the region, and this might be a good time for that.”

Other analysts beleive Delhi views closer ties with Beijing ‌as an prospect to better navigate its ⁤relationship ‌with US President donald Trump.

While improving relations⁤ broaden India’s diplomatic scope, experts emphasize ther is no fundamental change in their longstanding contradictory⁤ positions on critical matters. ‌The decades-long lack of a clearly defined border between India and China along⁢ the Himalayas-divided ⁢only ‌by a line of actual⁣ control-has been a source of tension.

India has long tried to tap into China’s manufacturing trade markets ⁤using its vast workforce; however, Indian factories are not yet ready for this integration.Over the past decade,Prime Minister Modi has pursued an initiative called “Make in ‌India” aimed at strengthening domestic production capabilities.
