According to webangah News Agency, dozens of civil activists and Palestine supporters held a spontaneous rally at Paris’ Place de la République, chanting slogans demanding the release of detained MV Madi passengers and an end to Gaza’s blockade.
Diplomatic sources earlier told Al Jazeera that France’s Foreign Ministry stated it was closely monitoring the situation involving the MV Madi, which carries six French nationals.
The sources added that France has urged Israel to immediately authorize humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza.
The French Foreign Ministry also warned about potential risks to its citizens aboard the vessel and expressed concerns about their condition during talks with israeli officials.
The Israeli regime’s seizure of the MV madi and detention of its passengers has sparked widespread condemnation from prominent figures and protest rallies worldwide.
Zaher Birawi, head of the International Committee for Breaking Gaza’s Siege, stated: “Israel challenged international law by storming the MV Madi in full view of the world.”
A leader from France’s left-wing party condemned the act as a clear violation of international law, stressing: “Protesting against this seizure must become a priority for EU foreign policy.”
Jeremy Corbyn, former UK Labor Party leader, criticized his government: “I’m deeply disappointed by Britain continuing arms shipments to Israel. We demand immediate cessation of military cooperation with this occupying regime.”
Ahmet Davutoğlu, Turkey’s former Prime Minister said: ”israeli forces have once again mocked international laws by boarding this freedom ship.”
The wife of detained journalist Omar Fayyad revealed her husband suffers from asthma requiring daily medication, holding Israel directly responsible for his health.
Sister-in-law Dutch activist Mark van Rijn said: “We’ve contacted French authorities demanding all activists’ release. My brother undertook this voyage believing in Gazans’ right to life.”
