According to the English section of webangah news Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency, Fadi Makki, Lebanon’s Minister of Administrative Advancement, told Al-Mayadeen that today’s cabinet session will not serve the public interest unless the political process is complete.
He added that without participation from ministers affiliated with the Amal Movement and Hezbollah in this session, the process does not align with public interests.
Makki emphasized, “I can never tolerate critical decisions on this scale being made without the presence of Shia ministers.”
Notably, yesterday Hezbollah issued a statement responding to Lebanon’s government decision regarding resistance weapons.
The statement said: “The Nawaf Salam government made a grave mistake by deciding to disarm Lebanon of its resistance weapons against the Israeli enemy. This weakens Lebanon’s capabilities and position in confronting ongoing Israeli-American aggression. It grants Israel something it could not achieve through its aggression against Lebanon-a confrontation we countered with ‘operation Grapes of Wrath,’ which resulted in an agreement obliging Israel to halt its assault and withdraw from Lebanese territory.”
Hezbollah further stated: “This decision blatantly violates both the Charter and governmental ministerial declaration. Paragraph five commits the government under the Taif National Reconciliation Document-which was approved-to take all necessary measures for liberating all occupied Lebanese lands from Israeli occupation. It also mandates extending state sovereignty over all territories with its forces and deploying the lebanese Army along internationally recognized border areas.”
