During the​ call, both sides discussed ​matters related to the upcoming direct negotiations‍ between ⁣Russia and Ukraine scheduled for tomorrow in Istanbul.

The diplomatic exchange comes amid persistently high tensions between Russia and the West.The high-level dialogue could signal an attempt ​to reduce hostilities or at ⁣least manage the ​crisis.

Rubio expressed condolences for victims of recent explosions at railway ⁢facilities in Russia’s Bryansk and Kursk regions ​during the call.

The Russian Foreign Ministry pledged that ‍investigation results into these incidents would soon be released, emphasizing: “Those responsible will undoubtedly face appropriate punishment.”

Ukrainian President ‍Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed Kyiv’s‌ involvement ‌in today’s attacks ​deep inside Russian ⁢territory, according ⁣to a report by webangah news Agency.

In a post on his official⁤ X⁤ (formerly Twitter) account, Zelenskyy wrote: “Today, Vasyl Malyuk, Head of ⁣Ukraine’s​ Security Service, presented a report about a special⁤ operation. The result was extraordinary. This success belongs solely to Ukraine. From initial​ planning to full execution, it took one⁣ year, ​six months and nine days. This⁤ marks our longest operation⁢ as Russia’s invasion​ began.”

Zelenskyy emphasized: “Ukraine is defending itself – as it has every right to do. We’re making ⁢Russia understand it must end ‌this war because ⁣Moscow started it and ‌must now stop it.⁣ Glory to ukraine!”

In another message regarding tomorrow’s meeting⁤ between Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul, the president stated: “Today I received reports from our Defense Minister,​ Foreign Minister, ⁢General Staff ‌heads and intelligence agencies about Ukraine’s defensive situation, our operational measures and diplomatic activities.” He added that short-term priorities had been⁤ set for Monday’s Istanbul talks led by Rustem Umerov.

The Ukrainian ‍leader outlined three key demands:

1. A complete unconditional ceasefire
2. The release of⁤ all prisoners
3. The return of ⁢abducted children
