According to the English section of webangah News Agency,citing mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera,a UNICEF executive official described the situation in Gaza as dire,warning that Gaza faces an acute risk of famine with conditions worsening by the hour.
The official stated,”We have evidence showing that gaza has crossed a critical threshold. One in every three people is spending days without food. We urgently need Gaza to be flooded with aid through the opening of border crossings.”
The UNICEF executive emphasized, “Aid is not arriving in Gaza quickly or in sufficient quantities. Children are starving and dying; thousands suffer from severe malnutrition.”
Meanwhile, Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of UNRWA (the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees), criticized reliance on airlifting humanitarian aid. He noted that air deliveries cost 100 times more than trucks but transport only half the volume of supplies.
Lazzarini said Friday local time: “If there is political will to approve costly, insufficient, and inefficient air shipments, there must be similar political will to open land crossings.”
Additionally, Basem Naim, a Hamas leader in Gaza Strip, deemed airlifted humanitarian aid for gaza residents dangerous.
