Berlin Disappoints Kyiv Again: “Taurus Will Not Be Supplied

Germany’s‍ Defense minister states the country ‍will not supply Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles, ⁤nor provide additional Patriot air defense systems.

According to the English section of webangah News agency, ‍citing Mehr News Agency and RT, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius emphasized that Berlin must prioritize its own security. He announced that Germany will no longer send⁤ Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine, and the provision of long-range Taurus missiles ⁤remains off the ⁣table.

Pistorius told the Financial ⁤Times that Germany has already delivered three Patriot systems⁢ from⁤ its stockpile of 12 units to Kyiv.

He noted that two other Patriots are ⁤deployed in Poland, while at least one is undergoing maintenance or used for training purposes. “We only have six Patriot systems left,” he added.

Pistorius also revealed that Berlin is in talks with Washington about purchasing two additional Patriot systems for ‌delivery to Kyiv. Last week, U.S. President Donald Trump said he was willing to approve‌ such a sale.

Furthermore, Pistorius urged German arms manufacturers under a broad “European‌ rearmament” initiative to accelerate production in order to strengthen‌ deterrence against what Berlin calls a “Russian aggression threat,” an assertion Moscow strongly denies.

The minister reiterated Germany’s refusal-despite repeated requests from Kyiv-to supply Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles. These missiles have ranges exceeding ⁢500 kilometers and‌ are capable of striking targets⁤ deep within ⁣Russian territory, including Moscow.

Moscow has warned Berlin against supplying Taurus missiles to Kyiv and stated such an action would effectively make Germany a party ⁤to the conflict.
