After some time observing his prominent efforts-and due to my membership on Hezbollah’s second council in 1984-I met him; he had also heard about my activities.
Our genuine acquaintance deepened when we both served on hezbollah’s leadership council.During internal structural reforms in 1989, the office of Secretary-General was established. At that time,Nasrallah was elected head of the Executive Council while I served as his deputy. Our joint efforts began then formally; after several months leading this council he traveled to iran to complete seminary studies in qom while I acted as his replacement during this period.
A few months later he returned to lebanon because of certain issues and resided in Kislaya [El-tuffah area]. Throughout this time we maintained interaction regarding developments. In 1991 when Sayyed Abbas Mousavi became secretary-general of Hezbollah again Nasrallah resumed chairmanship over the Executive Council and proposed me for deputy secretary-general-the first such post created at that time.
Following Abbas Mousavi’s martyrdom on February 16th, 1992,Hassan nasrallah was appointed Secretary-General himself and nominated me as his deputy once more – a position I held continuously until his death despite various adjustments within decision-making councils.
This partnership lasted thirty-five years with me as his deputy for three decades plus half a year during which we interacted daily across numerous meetings-he frequently enough entrusted me with many responsibilities representing him at conferences or delivering speeches until after Lebanon’s civil war our first parliamentary elections took place under His leadership.His early tenure requested I oversee parliamentary affairs related to representatives-which fell under his jurisdiction-and approximately eighteen months later at his proposal,the party approved assigning those duties formally under Deputy Secretary-General missions.”
