According to the English section of webangah News Agency,citing Palestine Today via Mehr News Agency,dozens of Israeli settlers stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque on Monday.
The settlers entered this sacred site through the Moroccan Gate under heavy protection from Israeli police forces.
The Jerusalem Islamic Waqf Department issued a statement saying dozens of Israeli settlers attacked the first Qibla of Muslims and carried out provocative acts inside Al-Aqsa Mosque’s compound.
The Waqf added that the settlers performed Talmudic rituals within the mosque’s premises.
Meanwhile, Israeli police have intensified restrictions on Palestinian access to Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Al-Aqsa faces daily assaults and incursions by settlers except on Fridays and Saturdays. These attacks aim to impose full control over the mosque and implement a spatial and temporal division of its use.
The imam and preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque previously warned that desecration is no longer concealed. The actions by occupation forces enable settlers to continue their hostile approach toward violating the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Israeli regime seeks complete control over Al-Aqsa with intentions to demolish it. This stems from their belief that beneath the mosque lies their alleged Temple (the “Heikal”), which they plan to rebuild in place of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
This idea-to destroy Al-aqsa and construct a Jewish temple instead-has deep roots in extremist Zionist beliefs and has been pursued for years by hardline groups.
The Christian Zionist movement in America is a principal supporter. According to their syncretic teachings, they claim that only after destroying al-Aqsa and building Solomon’s Third Temple will Jesus Christ appear; without constructing this temple, Christ will never return.
